Root zone heating and irrigation system. Various studies clearly demonstrate the positive impacts obtained by heating of the substrate. When comparing plants cultivated on a regular bench (a “Dramex” type) compared to those grown on AQUATHERMAT™, the results show that root and foliage development are visibly superior for plants cultivated on heated capillary mats. Accelerated production cycles combined with the possibility of lowered ambient temperature generate significant savings as regards heating (less days of heating and less heating per day).

It also has been shown that AQUATHERMAT® use up to 35 % less energy over all other root zone heating systems while yielding comparable agronomical results.

    Benefits:

    • Stimulates root formation and seed germination
    • Cuts energy consumption by 45% or more
    • Promotes greater crop uniformity and top-grade plants
    • Allows you to start production later in the winter and avoid lowest outdoor temperature

AQUATHERMAT® heats substrate evenly where it counts, at roots level. Air temperature could be reduce in order
to get shorter and thicker plants while reducing heating cost.

    How does it work:

    1. Irrigation: Water is introduced into the mattress through an irrigation system comprised of integrated, micro-perforated pipes. Note: For seedlings and cuttings, the use of an independent fogging system is recommended.

    2. Diffusion of water and heat: Heating tubes warm up the irrigation water contained within AQUATHERMAT®. A reservoir layer with exceptional water-retention capacities brings about an efficient and uniform distribution of warm water throughout the mat.

As the cycle continues, the water returns from the crop and enters the return header, goes through the return piping and completes the cycle. The water is then reheated and the process repeated.

    3. Capillary: As a result of capillary action, the warm water is distributed to the root system through the pot drainage holes. This increases pot temperature without drying the substrate
